Virtualization and Consolidation

Most modern applications are designed for use in computer networks, and their work often depends on the physical location of computing resources. If the enterprise network infrastructure, it can be used to optimize the cost of maintenance of equipment.

The basic idea is to create one large data center instead of a few small server rooms. It is cheaper, because in a single center can be concentrated and more effective server platforms, and more than qualified personnel, and provide the necessary environmental conditions and protection from external influences. Such a method of optimizing the costs of supporting large-scale information systems is becoming more common and is called consolidation. A special case is a consolidation of the rental applications and external computing power, when the consolidation is performed on-site external to the organization - in a dedicated data center.
